To Someone,
Imho, I think there are good hipsters and bad hipsters (good hipsters being people like you -- and me-- who have genuine interests in things that happen to not be "mainstream" or hugely popular yet and the bad hipsters being the ones mentioned in the post) and I wish someone could identify the difference for everyone haha. A while ago I got a lot of crap from someone accusing me of being hipster, and I got a little scared because I realised I do, in fact, enjoy the stereotypical hipster stuff (the moment of truth was when, for a moment, I understood Interior Semiotics... smh) and I didn't want to be lumped in with the narcissists.

I'm a hipster and scanning through the article, I think you're generalising a bit...

"Toro Y Moi is such a great artist. He makes really good music and I’m glad a lot of people don’t know much about him. The radio plays shitty music and I can’t stand people who think Kesha and Katy Perry are great artists. Those idiots don’t know anything lol.”

I would say:
"x is a great artist. He/She makes excellent music and I'm glad a lot of people don't know much about him. The radio plays boring/repetitive music that everyone knows. I don't judge people on who they like (eg. Katy Perry/Niki Minaj)) though. They're not idiots, they just have different tastes that could change."

A lot of hipsters on the internet aren't even hipsters. They just claim to know about item x before person y for their own personal benefit...
Which is lame. But know what isn't lame?
Hipster jokes.
I knew hipster jokes before you did, Dustin. :)
